Carolyn and I are doing a project.  We’re each writing a few “tankas” (kind of longer haiku) and sending them to each other.  Then we’re making a painting/drawing responding to the other person’s tanka.  So far we’ve each sent two tankas, and my first response kind of meshes with the weekend we’ve just had:

The tanka reads:

their leaves carved away

branches wave and weave patterns

knobby joints rubbing

wren flies over for a look

tree  cold  blue-sky  bird
